WELCOME TO HOUSE DISTRICT 36!
It is an honor to represent you at the State Capitol. House District 36 encompasses the easternmost neighborhoods of Aurora, Buckley Air Force Base and several communities in unincorporated Arapahoe County. As your state representative, I have worked to rein in government spending and keep government transparent and accountable. Why? Because, it’s what you sent me to the State Capitol to do. While Washington is bailing out Wall Street, I am looking out for Main Street.
As a small business owner, I know that small businesses are the engine of our economy. That’s why I am working hard to help rebuild our economy and bring good-paying jobs to our community by supporting smart investments in small business.
I know that families in my district, and across the state, are struggling. That is why I stand up to selfish special interests. I'm fighting to make sure that giant corporations pay their fair share. I am standing firm in making sure that Colorado does not pass on a deficit to our children and grandchildren.
I remain committed to listening to you, my neighbors. That is why I hold regular town hall meetings and coffee meetings, to report back on my work, answer your questions, and learn from you. Please feel free to call or email me anytime with ideas for how I can best represent you.

Setback for Setback Bill
I'm sorry to report that my oil & gas drilling setback bill, HB 12-1176, died in the House Local Government Committee on Monday, Feb. 6th. Sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to come down to the Capitol and testify. You told a compelling story and your efforts will make a difference.
This bill was deoigned to increase oil and gas well drilling setbacks to 1,000 feet from homes and schools. It also extended rights of notification to all homeowners in a neighborhood, and required best practices on new technologies.
Even though the bill failed, we scored a victory when Thom Kerr, acting director of the Colorado Oil and Gas Commission testified that the Commission will begin a discussion of new setback rules starting this month.
Please stay tuned for more information about our continuing efforts to protect the health, safety and property values of all Coloradans, while we responsibly develop our natural resources.
