STATE CAPITOL--2009--Rep Ryden tells a gathering at Lincoln Park, "I think that this law will give people that extra incentive to buckle up." Statistics show that 56% of all traffic fatalities are associated with those not wearing their seat belts. It is estimated that this costs the state more than $90 million dollars per year in economic productivity.

SB09-296, sponsored by Senator Betty Boyd and Representative Su Ryden, is a measure that would make not wearing a safety belt a primary offense, thereby requiring standard enforcement of safety belt laws in conjunction with all other traffic laws.

GOVERNOR'S OFFICE--2009--Gov. Bill Ritter congratulates supporters of the Foster Parent IEP Training bill (HB 1078), which he signed into law on March 19. It was Rep. Ryden's first bill to be signed by the Governor. Sen. Mary Hodge sponsored the bill in the State Senate.
