Su Ryden speaks to voters to reiterate her pledge to run a clean campaign

AURORA—At the CentrePoint Neighborhood Association candidate forum last night, Su Ryden reiterated her pledge to run a clean campaign for State Representative in House District 36—Aurora. “While voters want and need relevant comparisons of our stances on the issues and our credentials for the office, unfair or irrelevant comments about the opponent are unnecessary and unwarranted,” Ryden said.

“Voters want to know what we can and will do in the State Legislature, and if we are qualified to serve. They do not want to be bombarded by silly and meaningless comparisons or malicious attacks that do little to shed light on the true differences between us,” she added.

“I’m a Democrat. My opponent is a Republican. We have significant differences in policy and philosophy regarding the critical issues facing us today: healthcare, education and job creation,” Ryden said.

Ryden called on her opponent to focus on bringing competing interests together to work out solutions to the challenges facing Colorado. “Instead of slinging mud, I am interested in getting things done, whether it’s controlling healthcare costs or strengthening our public schools or creating good jobs for our hard working families,” she said.

Denver Post endorses Su!

“HD 36 (Arapahoe) — Aurora businesswoman Su Ryden, a Democrat, has a fine civic record in historic preservation and other civic issues.”

Aurora Sentinel Endorses Su!

The Aurora Sentinel endorsed Su Ryden as the right candidate to elect for House District 36. Here is some of what they said:

[Su] offers the perspective of a candidate who's had a front-row seat for years to difficult issues the state must solve. A longtime Aurora resident, Ryden has worked closely with endless agencies and non-profit groups as a marketer and public relations strategist, learning what it is that poses their greatest challenges and then finding ways to solve them. That's exactly what she needs to do at the state House.

She understands firsthand what it's like to run a small business that is staring down endless health-insurance increases and facing the effects of that on a small payroll.

Ryden brings with her a keen appreciation for Aurora's struggling cultural arts scene, and in dealing with those local boards and commissions has shown a great deal of commitment and tenacity to make big improvements in small ways.

Aurora will benefit from either of these hard-working community activists, but this time the job should go to Ryden.

Campaign Kick Off was a Blast!

Nearly 100 well-wishers battled rush-hour traffic to help kick off my campaign on May 19th. It was a gala evening with wonderful food and beverages provided by our great volunteers.

Arapahoe County Commissioner Frank Weddig emceed the event and introduced House Speaker Andrew Romanoff who led off with a rousing speech that got the crowd going. Then State Rep. Morgan Carroll recapped some exciting victories in he legislative session that had just ended.

It was gratifying to see so many friends and family. Special thanks to my husband Jerome, brother Mike Hardin and sister-in-law Margie along with my niece Dr. Lisa Van Bramer of Colorado Kids 1st fame. Super volunteers Diane Rich and Mary Lewis got it all together and made it a wonderful evening.
