Making sure Colorado works for everyone
Over the past 7 years, my focus has been on getting everyone back to work and making the economy work for everyone.
What does that mean?
It means making sure all or our children have the opportunity to succeed in school, and be prepared for the career of their choice.
It means making sure our families have access to affordable healthcare.
It means making sure our small businesses have a level playing field to compete for government contracts.
It means making sure our seniors can look forward to a secure retirement.
It means making sure our Veterans are getting the benefits they have earned.
It means investing in our roads and other infrastructure, including Buckley Air Force Base, now to meet the needs of future generations
I am nearing the end of my Legislative career, but I’ll remain committed to serving our community and helping make Colorado a better place for everyone.
I grew up in a small farming community, where family members still farm and ranch. Early in my advertising and public relations career I served a variety of agriculture-based clients and continued that work in my own firm, Ryden & Associates Integrated Marketing. In the Legislature, I served four years on the Agriculture, Livestock and Natural resources committee.
As a small business owner, I know what it takes to succeed in metro Denver’s very competitive marketplace. I know the challenges faced daily by families struggling to make ends meet while the cost of living rises rapidly. I know the challenges our cities and towns face in trying to provide quality education, affordable healthcare and a safe place to live.
Over the past 7 years, I’ve compiled a strong record of leadership and effective legislation. My colleagues have elected me to a number of leadership positions and I currently serve as Majority Whip. the Majority Whip is primarily responsible to know how many votes are needed to parties goals. I’m also chair of the State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee, the busiest committee at the Capitol. The Speaker of the House has also appointed me to serve on the Legislative Audit Committee and the Health Exchange Oversight Committee.
I’ve also been active in national legislative organizations, serving as State Director of Women in Government, and as the Co-chair of the Council of State Governments Canada-US Relations committee. I attended the highly competitive CSG Western Leadership Academy. My goal in these roles has been to bring back the best practices from around the country to make Colorado work better for everyone.
My Legislative record
Includes bills to restore education funding, protect homeowners living in HOAs, provide resources for our deployed military men and women, improve the quality of life for people with disabilities, provide services to veterans, aid victims of sexual assault, and give small businesses new opportunities to compete for government contracts.
It’s been an honor and a pleasure serving you over the past eight years.
